The Bronze Horseman

The Bronze Horseman - Paullina Simons If you had asked me a year ago, a month ago, HECK YESTERDAY if I was into historical fiction/romance I would have said, "Naw. Bigtime naw." Then I finished this monster, took a look at some of my favorites ([b:Outlander|10964|Outlander (Outlander, #1)|Diana Gabaldon|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1304187141s/10964.jpg|2489796]) and realized, maybe I'm into it ... a little. Tatiana and Alexander ... you bug me. You fight about dumb stuff. You don't communicate all that well. The middle half of your book is BLEAK LIKE WHOA. But I am jonesing for next book bad. So, kudos for ushering past a genre wall I didn't know I put up.

The Round House

The Round House - Louise Erdrich I rushed through this book a bit for book club, and I think that dampened my enjoyment of it a bit. I appreciate how the author blended themes and genres so well. It's a coming of age novel, but also a basic crime thriller, and a treatise on racism, and a sharp political portrait. That's pretty genius. I didn't feel compelled to rush through it, even though I did. I don't think I'll ever re-read it, but I would probably appreciate it more if I did.

Asunder

Asunder - That Sam. He's a keeper.

Tangled

Tangled - Emma Chase THIS IS A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF TELL. But if you want to read something kind of funny, and from a male POV, it's ok.

The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars - John Green Like you need my review on this one. It's awesome. Read it. I liked it.

A Rogue by Any Other Name: The First Rule of Scoundrels

A Rogue by Any Other Name - Sarah MacLean 3.5 starsAh, Historical Romance. If you were all like this one, you would be my favorite, 2nd favorite ... one of my favorite genres. But really. This book is great fun. And I love the idea of the series being linked to each "rogue" owner of The Fallen Angel. FUN TIMES.

The 5th Wave

The 5th Wave - Good not great. I liked the POV shifts. Especially when you go back to them upon further revelations of the characters. But I agree with my dear friend Amy who believed this puppy might be slightly over-hyped.

Beautiful Stranger

Beautiful Stranger - Christina Lauren It's not ok how good this book is.

Beautiful Bastard

Beautiful Bastard - Christina Lauren Fun, sexy and better than you expect it to be.

Walking Disaster: A Novel

Walking Disaster - Jamie McGuire Considering how much I disliked this book's companion, I had no intention of reading this one. But I got in a hate-read mood, and I knew this would fit the bill. AND OH DID IT. Not only is it chock full of McGuire's random narrative, grammar and syntax issues, cliche characters and clunky dialogue but we get the full on crazy that is Travis' inner monologue. The way he "justifies" the rages he flies into. Darlings, how can you possibly find him attractive? And that epilogue? That has to be the ultimate kicker. No way in God's good earth would ANY of that happen. Boyfriend wouldn't pass the stability test.
Attachments - Rainbow Rowell I really rather loved this story, the unique POV changes, Lincoln. Beth. Jennifer. Doris. Great all around.

Fallen Too Far (Too Far, #1)

Fallen Too Far (Too Far, #1) - Abbi Glines Terrible. Cliche. Boring. Predictable. Poorly written. Take your pick. All true.

Siege and Storm

Siege and Storm - "Ravka feels palpable and reachable, like a time and place we can map and travel to. There’s this gorgeous backdrop of fantasy – there is magic, but it’s rooted in history, like good fantasy should be, and that always makes me happy, school girl dancing giddy.""It’s relentless. There was never a moment where I felt I could put the book down, take a breather, leave Ravka and return later. I was a Volcra, and S&S was sandskiff of juicy peoples.""Here’s the thing: in a lot of books, we’re given a clear hero. A Good and an Evil. What I love about your series is the murkiness that IS Alina, and her relationship to her own power and to The Darkling. We get the barest hints of that in the first book, but it was delicious how she struggled in S&S. Of course, the struggle itself is what makes Alina sympathetic, but there is still the mystery of where she will land. I LOVE IT."Quotes from my Fake-Interview with Leigh Bardugo. Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices)

Clockwork Princess - Cassandra Clare 4.5 stars of series ending glory. I would like to dive into that epilogue and live there. Proper review to come.

The Last Letter from Your Lover

The Last Letter from Your Lover - Jojo Moyes Missed chances and enduring love and LETTERS. Love letters. Wonderful look at the culture of marriage and fidelity in the 1960s and in London. Despite heartbreak and a huge amount of frustration, this was an entrancing read. 4.5 stars.

Take What You Want

Take What You Want - Jeanette Grey Great little romance novel.
